About this site.
Capitalism 101 is an educational explainer on capitalism. Not advocacy, not opposition. The site presents the strongest version of every argument, including critiques, and lets readers reach their own conclusions.
Our differentiator is the spectrum with capitalism at the center. Most explainers put capitalism at one end of a left-right political line. We give capitalism its own axis, place the pure model at the center, and show what happens as you add state involvement in one direction and subtract it in the other.
Four commitments.
- Terms are defined precisely and used consistently.
- Every real-world example is honestly classified.
- Critiques get steelmanned, not strawmanned, and so do responses to them.
- Established fact, editorial classification, and contested characterization are visibly distinguished.
That last promise is why this site uses three visual registers throughout: a brass rule for established fact, a green tint for our own editorial classification, and a red rule for contested characterization. When we make a judgment call, we mark it as ours.
A sister site.
capitalism-101.com owns the canonical definitions for the capitalism family of terms. Our sister site owns the socialism family. The left edge of our spectrum hands off to it with an explicit link.
